Event Details
Join our workshop to learn how nature can help refugees and immigrants heal from trauma and find joy. We will explore the challenges and opportunities for newcomers to connect with nature in their new home. This workshop is for newcomer community members and their allies who want to break down barriers to new experiences in our local green and blue spaces.
Meet representatives from different divisions of the Forest
Preserves of Cook County, who will tell you about the many free resources and enjoyable experiential learning opportunities within our own backyards.
Hear from Refugee Education & Adventure Challenge (REACH) staff about the benefits of nature for mental and physical health, stress relief, and social connection among newcomer communities. Stay afterwards for a nature hike with REACH in the beautiful Palos Preserves!
