Our next symposium will address language and how we can challenge inequitable structures implicit in how we communicate. We will explore challenges, strategies and solutions concerning:
- The right to express oneself in one’s preferred language, toward greater power and inclusion
- Access to translation and interpretation that determines the quality and availability of services in the US
- Cultural constructs that reinforce the dominance of colonial languages
- Centering local, non-dominant and/or ethnic minority languages
- Nuance and veracity lost in translation as we work across cultures
We hope that this gathering will provide you with examples of best practices and useful tools to inform your everyday work.
